Promoting reading for pleasure is one of the main aims of the Books Council. The work is led by our Department of Children’s Books and Reading Promotion, headed by Bethan Mai Jones. From World Book Day Wales to reading competitions, Bethan and her team organise a wide range of lively events and activities every year to spark interest in reading among children and young people. In order to make a real difference and have a far-reaching effect, the Department works closely with schools, libraries and other organisations working to achieve similar goals.
