In 2019, it was exactly 20 years since the Summer Reading Challenge was established. It is the largest annual campaign in the UK to promote reading among children aged between 4–11 year olds. It aims to encourage them to visit their local libraries and inspire them to read for pleasure. The annual UK-wide challenge is organised by charity The Reading Agency and the campaign is supported here by the Welsh Government and the Book Council of Wales.
