Services for Bookshops

Independent bookshops make an important contribution to the Welsh economy and to their local communities, and we’re here to support them as a Books Council. This work is led by our Sales & Information Department which is located in our Distribution Centre on the Glanyrafon Enterprise Park on the outskirts of Aberystwyth.

SALES OFFICERS

We have a team of sales officers who cover the whole of Wales and who, when circumstances allow, make regular visits to bookshops as well as schools and libraries.

They can take your orders, arrange for point-of-sale promotional material to be sent to bookshops, discuss which titles are selling well, share information about upcoming titles and more.

If you’re a bookshop owner in Wales and would like to be put in touch with your dedicated sales officer, please contact our Department of Sales & Information.

ORDERs

Orders placed by bookshops are processed through our Distribution Centre in Aberystwyth.

At any one time, there are around half a million books from Wales in stock in our Centre’s warehouse and details of all available titles are listed on www.gwales.com. We also send a regular e-mail to booksellers with details of new titles from Wales available from our Distribution Centre.

The Books Council also has links with other distributors in the UK and internationally to ensure that books from Wales are available worldwide.

Distribution

We over a next-day delivery service to bookshops who order before midday (Monday-Friday). There is no delivery charge for orders worth more than £66.66 net.

Our Distribution Centre is self-financing and does not receive any direct funding from the public purse.

If you would like to open a business account, please email our Department of Sales & Information.
