It goes without saying that authors are the lifeblood of a thriving publishing industry. It is their stories and their writing which draws us to read and to buy or borrow books.
As a Books Council, we support the work of authors through our support for publishers in particular, and the book trade more widely. Publishers approach us with their ideas and applications for support from our grants programme and it is the publishers who then deal directly with authors and commission their work.
Literature Wales also supports authors by offering scholarships, training courses and mentoring schemes.
